Added LastModified Date timestamps to the API

For Developers Only

To help system integrators assess whether to update the data in their own systems, we've added a LastModified date and timestamp to our API calls.

For instance, in the Customer/All endpoint, the API will return customers who had any kind of activity over the time period requested. That might include a purchase, refund, or update of their customer info. Along with their current set of info and items, the API will provide the LastModified timestamp:

If the timestamp isn't more recent than the last update in whatever external data the integrator is using, this update can be ignored.

New Feature

Embedded Select-your-own-seats Widget ticketing

We've introduced significant new white-label reserved seating features that, well, we've never actually seen before--a no-developer, totally native embedded true reserved seating (RS) embeddable widget. This means you can fully embed and style a robust reserved seating ticket flow natively into your website without a developer--without an internet-hating iframe or other hack.

You don't set up your venues, showtimes, or website integration in any different way than before. The embeddable ticket widgets just now magically handle things.

First, you set up a single or multi-section seating plan, where at least some of the sections are reserved seating. This enables customers and box office agents to choose specific seats at the time of sale.

Pro tip: Allocation Templates make scheduling bulk RS showtimes quick and easy. Get to know this powerful tool.

Once you schedule RS showtimes and schedule tickets to go on sale, you simply embed the same ticket widget as any showtime. You can copy and paste it from the Widget Generator, integrate to the External Web API and automate it on your own website, or use our WordPress Plugin.

Customers now select their section (if there are multiple sections) and pick their own seats on your website. No awkward look and feel, no links to other websites, no iframes that are actually other websites--just your actual website selling rows and seats.

Improvement

Added Ability to Disable Customer-facing Ticket Transfers

We received some useful feedback from clients that some organizations weren't ready to allow customers to transfer their own tickets to other people.

We added a setting in your Account Settings to disable customer ticket transfers.

image.png

If disabled, customers simply won't see the option to transfer tickets. You will still be able to do ticket transfers from the Back Office.

New Feature

Customer-facing Ticket Transfers and Cancellations

In a big boost to enabling customers to self-service, they can now transfer tickets to other people without contacting you. Or cancel no-cost tickets in a ticket package if they change their mind.

Customers see not one but two new screens in their online customer profile--Your Events and Your Packages.

Your Events

On Your Events, customers find they can transfer individual tickets to another person or pull up all the tickets on their mobile device for a single show.

Ticket Transfers send an email to the recipient with a custom message, inviting them to accept tickets, and thus, use them. It's like gifting but after purchase.

Your Packages

Similar to Your Events, customers can transfer tickets from their ticket package from here. In addition, they can cancel tickets altogether--it's like a refund but no money exchanges hands.

After canceling a ticket, the customer can get a different ticket on their package.

You don't need to do anything to take advantage of these new features--they are automatically made available today.

Improvement

Additional Term Lengths for Memberships

We've added additional term lengths to memberships, so feel free to get creative and offer an 18-month, 2-year, or 5-year membership.

External Web API

For Developers

Building your own web schedule, attendee app, or ticketing integration? If so, using our new External Web API and a slew of additional data fields on events can completely automate the process.

The External Web API needs to be enabled by Elevent, so if this is something you wish to explore, let us know.

When enabled, on events you will see several additional fields on events that are only exposed through the External Web API

image.png

Some of these, like Genre or Section, are categories that can receive a comma-separated list of values.

All event and showtime data is easily retrievable for other systems to use from the External Web API. Here's where you can learn all the details.

New Feature

New Automated Email Reminders for all Expiring Members

Before, only members who enrolled to auto-renew with their saved payment card would receive a email alerting them that in X days, their membership was set to auto-renew.

We added a new automatic email that is sent to non-auto-renewing members to alert them they are about to lose their member privileges. It's another easy tool in your arsenal to help retain and grow your member base.

To enable, simply make sure auto-renew is enabled on each membership's renewal option and set a lead time in days. Find this part of your membership:

image.png

Create or edit the renewal, and make sure Auto-renew is enabled

image.png

The Auto-Renew Notice Lead Time is the number of day before membership expiration when the email will go out.

You can preview and customize this email in Email Templates in your Account Settings. Look for the Membership Expiration Notice email template.

You can direct users back to the membership page on your own website (instead of goelevent.com) by entering a renewal URL.

New Feature

Reserved Seating Allocation Templates

For those of you using reserved seating sections or venue layouts, when you combine those with a lot of individual showtimes, creating complex schedules of RS showtimes was a bit of a chore. While you could copy showtimes or use the Advanced Show Scheduler, both methods are more tedious than importing showtimes from Airtable or using the multi-scheduler.

We've added a new allocation template creator/editor for reserved seating templates and added support to the multi-scheduler to make replicating complex reserved seating showtimes a breeze.

Fix

Upgraded Membership Purchase Notification Emails

Did you know one or more email addresses of your choosing can be notified whenever there is a membership purchase, renewal, or upgrade?

You enter a list of email addresses in the Account Settings page.

image.png

These notification emails weren't being sent as reliably as we'd like, so we upgraded the email sending service for these emails to our newer email engine.

Improvement

Added support for Variable-priced memberships in the new Box Office

If you have one or more membership tiers with variable-priced memberships (where the member can enter in a higher price for the membership as a kind of implicit donation), that functionality is now supported in the new Box Office (in Beta).

image.png

Just a reminder--variable-priced memberships are not compatible with memberships that auto-renew, so choose carefully.
